I was first introduced to the idea of Green Smoothies almost 3 years ago when a work collegue who is a wonderful source of information for all things healthy suggested I try one. I was pregnant at the time and was worried about the side effects…crazy huh?
Yes I was a kid of the processed food age clearly. The thought of throwing a bunch of kale or spinich into a blender with a couple of other fruits and vege absolutely freaked me out.My worries certainly fell by the wayside once Lil D arrived and I was quickly becoming under nourished myself with his reflux bearing down very hard on me.
Since those early days I have experimented with many combinations but this one is by far my favourite.
Green Smoothie with Lime & Ginger
Large handful of spinach
1 x carrot
1 x green apple
1 cup of green grapes
1/2 lime (peeled)
2cm knob of fresh ginger
2 teaspoons of chia seeds
Whiz all ingredients together until smooth in blender, juicer or Thermomix.
Serve with ice if desired.
