No Mama Got Time For Dat!

It has been a hellish couple of days here at MMM HQ.  A little bit of CODSWOLOP went down and I ended up pinching a nerve in my lower back with the stress my body decided to take on board.

YEOUCH.

I was under the impression that if I kept moving and stretching(despite the pain), it would work itself out and I would be fine.  Turns out I have been very very wrong.  Each day, I roll out of bed hoping that the pain has disappeared and each day as I try to stand and take the first step I am reminded of the hideous lower back pain I had when giving birth.

So yes I have hollered for an epidural.  Only one offer came forward.  The young lady, whilst an extremely competent hairdresser and now new Mama has never administered an epidural before, so I suggested that I may rub rum into it instead, and let her know how I go.

I have no time for this debilitating pain.  It catches me when I least expect and shoots god awful pain down the back of my right leg. I am better if I am standing or walking in a straight direction. But you cannot rest or sleep like that can you?

NO MAMA GOT TIME FOR DAT at all. I am so sorry for those that suffer daily with sickness and disablement.

Having to soldier on with kids is like being injured on the front line. HIDEOUS. With no MASH helicopter to come and airlift you out.

Missing out on dinner with Mr MMM and his winning Saints after an awesome game of AFL this afternoon has broken my little heart too.

Thank God for the helping people I have around me though. In particular my Daughters who have not once tried to get out of picking things up for me or doing extra jobs.

I have managed to scout around, begged and stole all home remedies for back ache anyone in my vicinity had in their possession.

Nanny MMM has the best back ache loot.  She loaned me a TENS machine and this kick arse Zen spray.  I can highly recommend both of these.  Just be careful with the TENS.  I didnt turn it off properly when I tried to peel off the sticky bits from my back.  My finger got a right zapping.  I leapt and swore and then cried in more pain.

Mr MMM, had his bottle of Magnesium for his PMS for which I have knocked back a few tablets.  (I think they really helped)  Mr MMM, also had Voltaren in his footy kit.  The way he rubbed it into my arse had me really really worried I may end up with some burning bits.  Alas, it wasn’t that sort of liniment.  THANK GOD.

Aunty Moggy gave me this magnet belt thing.  I have yet to try it.  Magnets just seem magical to me.  So I have high hopes for them.  Either that or I will be welded to my metal kitchen chairs until I can get the bloody things off.  Aunty Moggy also gave me these patches.

She ordered them online from Asia apparently.  They are really good to she says.  I believe her.  I have just been rather concerned that I am lacking in the reading Asian languages skill and could actually be slapping cocaine on my back.

It has gotten to the point I do not really care though.

I know I am going to have to go and see a professional about this next week if/when all of my home remedies fail.

So out of all the types of people you can see with back ache, who do you recommend?  Chiropractor? Physiotherapist? Acupuncturist? Bowen therapist?

    Lol. You poor thing. That does not sound like fun at all. I have chronic tailbone pain and I’ve done little about it because … mama got no time for dat. My physio SIL reckons I need a back xray though. Cracked tailbone is on the cards she thinks … Hope you feel better soon.

      Oh goodness Renee, I cracked my tailbone in a hellish childbirth with baby number 1. Sounds unbelievable I know but it happened. Makes life sooo uncomfy for a long time.

    Seriously, no MAMA got time for DAT SHIT. I highly recommend an osteo and a pilates class, once the injury has settled. I did pilates when I was pregnant with #1 as I had a prolapsed disc in my back an unable to take any of the ‘pams or voltaren. I haven’t needed drugs for it since, it really was an unbelievable transformation. Good luck! Lower back pain sucks balls—I empathise! Kx

      You know what ? I never thought of doing pilates for back pain. I have been trotting along trying to build up my running lately, and just maybe that is why this has occurred. Totally sucks balls. Sucks even more balls when you forget to turn off the TENS machine prior to removing the pads. yeouch. yup just now.

    Ouch! I hurt my shoulder a few weeks ago and (stupidly) just left it for over a week until I realised it was getting worse not better (and saw a physio). I had some acupuncture (dry needling). It’s bizarre how something like that can make EVERYTHING seem so dire! Like you I barely slept so I really struggled!

    Hope it improved quickly!

    Oh you poor thing, I shouldn’t laugh but I can so relate! I did something 2 years ago couldn’t walk had to call hubby home from work. Straight to physio, NO CHIRO, bones don’t need cracking because once they’re cracked they keep needing cracked to give you relief. Physio all the way lovely, and NOW, not next week!     Ouch. I don’t want to feel your pain but I sorta do with being pregnant and all. I would do physio, a bath with Epsom salts and deep heat. Honestly I have no idea what remedies can help but these are what I would do. I hope it gets better soon and that the kids are easy to wrangle while you soldier on. x

      Thanks Bec .. I think def the physio is a must. Lucky my Mum and Bestie have lots of little home remedies .. I owe them big time.

    I’m pretty sure you’re safe if it IS cocaine, so long you’re slapping it on your back. I reckon it might not work that way. Although I could be wrong… 😉
