Bringing your brand new baby home is an amazing moment a new Mum’s life. So much love, wonder, and memories being made, all while running on a mix of excitement, auto pilot and exhaustion.
With feeding, changing, bathing and finding time to rest yourself, the last thing on a new Mum’s mind is what to wear each day. It is so easy to fall into the trap of not taking care of your appearance when there seem to be more pressing issues.
It doesn’t need to be this way, however. You simply need to carefully choose some basic pieces that will mix and match with the following features in mind.
Comfort (stretch is best)
Flattering (loose where required)
Easy Care (cold quick wash/non ironing)
1. The Ponte’ Pant
A perfect basic that can see you through all seasons. Made from a thick stretch fabric these pants are flattering on almost everyone. They will fit over your after baby bump and even help smooth out any lumps. Easy to wash and wear, choose a dark colour and team them with anything.
I found these Boo Radley Ponte Pants at Birdsnest for $79.00
2. Stretch Swing Top
Having plenty of wash and wear tops that are nice and loose for feed times are essential when you may find yourself changing frequently if your baby vomits a little after feeds.
I am a huge fan of Betty Basics as seen here.
You can purchase this top from Birdsnest for $24.95
3. Long Vests and Scarves
The beauty of wearing a light weight vest or scarf with your outfits is not only to dress up your look. They are perfect for providing privacy when out and about and Bub needs a feed. Baby need not be entirely covered and people may realise your feeding, but thats fine you need not show the world if you aren’t comfortable doing so.
I love this vest from Shabby Sisters for $50.00.
4. Large Tote
Every Mum needs a huge handbag and I often hated carrying a nappy bag instead of my handbag. So I shouted myself a large great looking tote and a toiletries bag which fitted a couple of nappies, packet of wipes, nappy bags and some nappy cream in. That left the rest of the bag for me to feel somewhat like the woman I was prior to having children.
I love this Maddie Tote from Everme for $79.95
5. Comfortable Shoes
The last thing you need when often pacing the floor trying to burp your baby or put him to sleep is uncomfy shoes. I always believe you should invest more on your shoes than any other pieces of clothing. Your feet keep you upright hey? They keep you moving and that is your number one requirement as a busy new mum.
My go to pair of shoes is my loafers from FRANKiE4. I have these in Tangerine but cannot get my eyes of these new season gold version.
You can get yourself a pair from FRANKiE4 for $219.95
By carefully selecting your clothing for your post birth body, you will find that looking and feeling great can come together without thinking.
