Want to entertain in your backyard but think it isn’t up to the task? Backyards are one of the best places to hold parties. Out in the open, under nice weather and fresh air, everyone including the host can relax and enjoy themselves. Here are some tips on how you can make your backyard party-ready.
Have the Right Furniture
Parties require a place to sit down and relax as well as room to stand. A simple solution is an outdoor lounge. They are comfortable – often just as comfortable as any interior lounge – and they are weather-proof, which, as it happens, makes them party-proof too. Lounges aren’t all you need though. If you are entertaining with food, you will need a dining area with a table and benches to seat your guests as they eat. Stores like Super Amart sell many pieces of outdoor furniture that are perfect for backyard entertaining.
Getting the garden cleaned up before entertaining is something that cannot be avoided. Getting the basics done, like mowing the lawn, is a good start, but there is much more to do to be truly party-ready. Pressure washing any tiles or concrete floors will wipe away any grime, dirt or moss that has grown over time. Not only does it look poorly maintained with moss and grime, but it also can carry unwanted smells with it – not something you want around with guests over! After mowing the lawn, it’s probably a good idea to spray it if you have prickles and weeds, especially if kids will be playing on it. The last thing to do is prune shrubs and hedges, which always look tidy and uniform when they are trimmed.
Add accessories to the backyard that are unique and personally stylised. That includes anything to do with your outdoor dining setting or lounge area. It could be table decorations or seat cushions. Many things you can even make yourself, using one of the many DIY guides available on the internet. The best place to start when decorating is with a theme. It could be anything from a rustic theme to a chic modern look. With an aim and purpose, you will find creating the space much easier.
Lighting is just as important outside the house as it is inside. If you don’t have any lights, you will find your parties coming to a sudden close as the sun goes down. Of course, large outside lights – ones that illuminate most of your backyard – are a necessity, but light ropes or even fairy lights wrapped around poles or strung up on fences are a fun means of spreading extra light. Lanterns or solar lights on the edges of garden beds are also great for parties. They illuminate the edge of gardens, creating an invisible barrier for where people should walk. For a warm and intimate atmosphere, there is nothing better than candles.
Getting your backyard ready for parties isn’t an easy task. But once it’s all ready and the party comes around, you will know it was all worth it in the end.
